DRUMMER

John Dodd at age 17 joined the Virginia Marines in 1776 as a drummer. His unit was captured at sea aboard the Mosquito in November 1777. John and his shipmates were imprisoned under harsh conditions in Barbados for over a year until a prisoner exchange was negotiated. John Dodd (1759-1815) is my 4G-grandfather.

This is in honor of John Dodd and and indeed all who have served their country.
